It's 59 degrees and dry at 5:20 a.m.

The WKTV Weather Forecast: "High pressure builds in Tuesday with mostly sunny skies. It will be comfortable with highs in the low 80s. Another chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday, especially to the south of Utica. Dry weather returns again for Thursday and Friday.

Thunderstorms are possible heading into the weekend."

IN THE MAIL

From Jeff Reynolds at the Waterville Public Library.

"Here's a nice birds-eye view of the Lally Memorial Garden, taken by Steve Keating from his skybox while he was up changing a parking lot light bulb the other day. Shows the wonderful job that Heath Zwahlen and his crew have done in maintaining the garden, Jim Bogan's recent repainting of the pergola, and a fresh mowing of the "back acre" compliments of Art White.

Many thanks to all four gentlemen for their quiet, much valued contributions to the Library."

And he added: "Incidentally, the solar collectors cooked electricity at a record pace in July."

Thanks, Jeff!

From Dick Hughes

First Gleanings for the Utica Rescue Mission.

If you have vegetable garden"left-overs" to contribute, just put them in a bag or box labeled "Rescue Mission" and drop them off at Patrick Hughes' farm stand a bit south of Deansboro on Rt. 12B or in the driveway at his father's home (that's Dick Hughes at 7316 Sanger Hill Road) and they will make sure that they are delivered to the Rescue Mission right away!
