A Memorial Day Photograph

From Terry Tanner, who wrote:

"Sunday morning I saw this in the road and could NOT figure out what it was … going around in circles in the middle of Center Road … when I realized what I was looking at I grabbed my camera! A man driving by stopped also .. and after we stopped laughing he grabbed his gloves and rescued the poor woodchuck!! The can was stuck on its head so tight he doesn’t think it could have gotten it off itself."

YESTERDAY

The thermometer passed the 90-degree mark.

Nothing was moving on Main Street.

Even the "whirlygigs" in Morgan's sidewalk showroom were still.

No one was painting at the Historical Society, but now we know what color the building will be: the same as it was, but brand new!

On Lewis Road, hay dried in the hot sun ............

............ and a dozen or more heifers lay in the shade of an old maple on Sally Road, looking more like Dalmations than Holsteins.

Rhododendron are blooming all around the village ......

.......... on Barton Avenue and .........

On Putnam Street.

**********

They're also in bloom in Rusty and Joan's garden, a bit south of Waterville ........

........ along with flowering trees .......

......... and purple iris.

Rusty included this shot of a Tiger Swallowtail, enjoying the lilacs.

Thanks, Rusty!
