Two special early morning greetings ......

MEMORIAL DAY

Parade at 9:00

followed by Memorial Day Exercises at Monument Park.



The Civil War Monument in Monument Park


The lower - granite - portion of the monument was set in place in 1899 and the bronze Civil War Soldier added in 1904.



Toward "the point" of Monument Park stands a smaller monument placed there by the Clifford J. Fulmer Post of the American Legion as a Tribute to those who served in the Spanish American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War and in Vietnam.

("Waterville's First Hero," Fulmer had enlisted when he was 17 and was killed during a major campaign in France just after he had turned 19.)

Flags


Every year, the Clifford J. Fulmer Post places nearly 600 new flags at the gravestones of veterans who are buried in local cemeteries.

A 15' x 18' American Flag hangs in a peaceful grove next to the Cornelius residence on Route 12B south of Deansboro. Doug Cornelius' nephew, John Sigsbee, was killed in action in Iraq in January of 2008.
