It's GARBAGE DAY!

16.9 degrees.
A couple of inches of new snow,
but no precipitation right now.

**********************

As you can see ..............

............. the accumulation of yesterday's "great storm"
was probably around 4 or 5 inches, and now the total
depth of snow in my yard is somewhere in the vicinity of 14".

WKTV's morning forecast: "Lake effect snow will come to an end today across the area. A mix of sunshine and clouds this afternoon with highs in the low 20s.

Clear skies tonight and chilly with a few sub zero readings by daybreak.

A pleasant Friday with sunshine and seasonable temperatures. Another opportunity for snow arrives on Saturday. More snow showers on Sunday through Tuesday followed by colder weather for the middle of next week."

I didn't go out at all, yesterday, because local folks that I talked with by phone or via Email all agreed that driving conditions weren't the best.

Other folks had other concerns: friend in Florida said it was "cold" (60 degrees at night) and my friend Patti Settle, who lives on an island northwest of Seattle, wrote:

"I envision your house almost completely covered with snow with brave little puffs of smoke coughing out of your chimney. Are you buried? Is there a tiny path to your door where a dog can bring wine and possibly food? Well, I have to admit I'm jealous! It is 50 degrees here and our little plants are pushing out of the ground and my roses are leafing out and we haven't had ANY winter!"

(If I knew how to send some, I would!)

I'm not saying that I've had "enough winter, already," but I did start another batch of "paperwhites" and put my "Spring" pussy-willow wreath on the front door!

**************

And, while I was on the front porch, I once again shook my head in dismay over the deer-damage done to evergreens right next to the house. Although I don't think that it's been a terribly "hard" winter, the deer certainly seem to be indicating that they have run out of food in the woods!

I'll be out and around the village and countryside later this morning, looking for more interesting photo ops!
