Sunday afternoon

Snow showers; 27 degrees with pale sunshine.

Clearing = Colder

Monday is GARBAGE DAY!

The WKTV forecast: "Clouds and flurries will give way to breaks of sunshine Sunday as an arctic air mass builds into the region. Colder air will help set off some lake effect snow on Sunday afternoon and evening before high pressure moves back into Central NY.

Sunny, but very cold weather is in the forecast for the beginning of next week. A possible storm system to keep an eye on for Tuesday and Wednesday with the potential for some significant snowfall. Stay tuned for the latest."

IN THE MAIL

Two E-notes from Jody Barnes answering Tim LeClair's query about WHS Class Reunions: "Thought I would mention... Alumni interested in reunion information and/or contacting other alumni could try the school website alumni page with "reunion information" or the class student list http://www.watervilleschools.org/education/components/scrapbook/default.php?sectiondetailid=2753&linkid=nav-menu-container-4-18374 or a facebook group has been created http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/group.php?gid=134171081097

and ..........

"The class list I referred to is the "alumni email directory" You could also mention the all class alumni & community celebration hosted by the WCS District Foundation will again take place during Cruise In evening on Sat Sept. 17th. Thank you!"

Thank YOU, Jody!

Jerry Burdick found this little newspaper article about a famous barber shop and remembered that I'd remarked about Mrs. Battles wonderful collection of antique shaving mugs:

"Avery and Nolan moved into a barber shop on the second floor at the right at the top of the stairs on Nov. 29, 1889. He advertised "all modern conveniences with two large bathing apartments with hot and cold running water." In the center was a marble topped lavatory with two decorated bowls and shampooing attachments. On one side was a beautiful case with mirrors, shelves for cups, bottles, and two barber chairs."

Perhaps that was the original home of Mrs. Battles' shaving mug collection! Lois Battles says that the mugs came from everywhere --- people just gave them to her! And now the collection is with Lois' brother, Deland, in Nyack, N.Y.
