WKTV's forecast: "A sunny but sub zero start to the morning for many locations. Sunshine prevails today, with highs warming into the mid 20s. Increasing clouds tonight.

Another opportunity for snow arrives on Saturday, but the heaviest snow stays east again. Light snow looks to fall late Saturday, especially south and east of Utica. Temperatures warm into the low to mid 30s over the weekend!

More snow showers on Monday and Tuesday followed by a return to colder weather for the middle of next week."

Looking east from the tip of West Hill.

Yesterday was the brightest day we'd seen for quite a long time and by mid-afternoon the skies were the so blue that I thought a pilot would have called the conditions "severe clear."

In the village, Mr. Woodman's home was just one of the many that seem wrapped in huge comforters of downy-white snow!

Icicles glistened as the morning sun shone on this house on Sanger Avenue.

Outside the village, next to Osborn Avenue, snomobilers were out early, enjoying the day.

I noticed trail-side "billboards" pointing the way to "The Huddle on Main" and "Stinkers."

The sight of this HUGE snowplow clearing the railroad tracks on the overpass in Sangerfield made me smile ...................

................. this had the opposite effect!

(I don't think it's illegal - it's just a nuisance!)

IN THE MAIL

from Leslie Olivera-VanWormer:

"Jim and I just returned from three days in Boston to visit Dale and Lori Meszler. Had a WONDERFUL time and thought I would share a picture of us while there - Dale is doing just great and is more than halfway done with his treatments. Had a great time and managed to leave Boston just as the storm was beginning - took us 90 minutes to get outside of the city limits.

The picture is from the Liberty Hotel - former jail! - and a view of Fenway from our lunch in the 52nd floor of the Prudential Building - Top of the Hub restaurant. "

Thanks loads for the Really Good News and the great pictures, Leslie! (I appreciated the view of The Fen!)

IN THE NEWS

Two interesting articles in this morning's edition of the O-D.

SIGNS OF SPRING!

At the Falks' on Putnam ........

.................... and the Morgans' on Stafford Avenue.

Out at Alcotts, on Route 20, the OPEN sign was in the window and Gaylene said that "spring" would be arriving over the next several days!

Have a great weekend, everyone.

I don't promise that I'll be awake and blogging early Monday morning!

I'm not a really a huge fan of football, but I do LOVE watching Super Bowl Commercials!!!

***********

If neither the game nor snomobiling or skiing appeal to you,
consider seeing "The King's Speech."
I think it might be the very best movie that I've EVER seen.
