It's Garbage Day

56 degrees and dry at 5:30 a.m.

The Weather forecast from YNN as of Sunday evening: "Remaining Mild, But Showers Return

Cooler By Midweek

Tonight will remain mild and unsettled with a weak cool front rolling through. This will knock the temperatures back slightly, but expect readings on Monday to be well above average.

Monday/Monday night will feature the small chance for a shower. Moisture will move up from the south through Tuesday, and through the region Tuesday evening/night with steadier rain. In the wake of this system expect temperatures around seasonable levels for the middle and end of the week."

IN THE MAIL

This nice note from Hank Gardner: "Thanks for the history of the parade. Rusty (Manion) was a classmate, 1943. During those times past not many teenagers had vehicles. Rusty was an exception. He drove a pickup and helped his father delivering milk to doorsteps. Sometimes he would be very tired in school due to the early morning work. However, in the evenings he would be available for trips and other outings. Great Guy."

Thanks for writing, Hank!

Sunday Ride-around

If you drive through the village after dark you'll be dazzled by some of the Christmas lights, but there are also a great many decorations that are just as attractive during the day! Yesterday afternoon there were so many cars parked along West Main Street that I had trouble getting clear views of many store fronts, but caught a glimpse of reindeer, newly arrived in front of the pizza parlor!

Across the street at "This n That" the windows and doors - and even a second story perch - are all brightly decorated!

In residential areas, doorways seem to be the focal points.

On East Bacon Street the Briggs' home and that of Mrs. Mizener and Mr. Browne are trimmed ......

............... and, on West Bacon Street, Jill Getman is ready for what comes next!

While Andrea Gaiser's home at the top of the Buell Avenue Hill is getting a major "make-over," more changes have taken place farther down the road, in the Hollow: Pat Keith Marcellus wrote that she purchased the house next to Bruce Treen about a year ago and has spent the past year renovating the home, both inside and out! It looks nice, Pat!

FOR THE RECORD

The owners of the Lost Puppy must have read the Friday blog post for, according to Mrs. Tabolt, who had been his temporary hostess, they showed up just a few hours later to claim him. He is now back at his home out on Madison Street - as happy as his "people" are, I'm sure.

********************

I rarely use this blog as a personal “soap box,” but the time has come: we need to have a little discussion about Email protocol!

I like getting Email. But I get about a hundred a day and although some are personal notes - which I always read and answer first - many others are “bulk” mailings of humorous, inspirational or patriotic and/or political messages.

First: If you forward a piece of Email to one person or to many, you should know that a great many people (I now include myself) just get one glimpse of those letters – “FWD” – and throw the mail right into the trash! It only takes a few seconds longer to copy the original mail and paste it into a new mailing, and that way it will probably actually be read by the people you sent it to!

PLEASE………….. If you are going to send copies of one personal E-message to several people, don’t list all of their Email addresses! Send the first copy to yourself and to all others check the BCC (Blind Copy) box. They will then become “undisclosed recipients,” safe from having their addresses end up in address books all over the world - that's just not good at all!

Thank you. Now I’ll be quiet!

Have a great day, everyone!
