From WKTV: "Winter storm warnings in effect for all of Central New York*

A fast but powerful storm system will bring heavy snow to Central New York. The snow begins this morning from south to north, falling heaviest between 8AM-2PM. Snowfall rates in most areas will be over 1" per hour at times. That rate is enough to cause poor visibility and difficult driving conditions.

Snow winds down throughout the afternoon and evening. Total snowfall will average between 6-12" for most areas. Lesser amounts will fall north of the valley, with heavier amounts south of the valley. See the snowfall map on the right for details.

Snow ends this evening, with partly cloudy skies overnight. Some sunshine early Saturday before a weak distrubance brings a much lighter snowfall to the area Saturday night.

Another storm is in the cards for Monday. This one looks to start out as a mix of sleet and freezing rain, changing to plain rain by the afternoon.

Quieter weather heading into the middle of next week."
