It's Recyclables Day

62 and foggy at 5:30

WKTV's Weather Forecast: "Hazy, hot, and humid today and tomorrow as a classic summertime pattern takes shape. Today's temperature climbes into the low 90s. With the extra warmth and humidity in the atmosphere, an isolated pop up shower or thunderstorm this afternoon is possible. We stress that most of the day and area should remain dry.

Very warm and very humid tonight, with overnight lows in the upper 60s.

A better chance for widespread thunderstorms will be on Thursday evening as a cold front arrives. Cooler weather returns Friday and Saturday."

MISCELLANEOUS

These are Chive blossoms

In a note from Jody Hildreth, he writes: "Have you ever made Chive Flower Vinegar? Esther Gehringer told me about this easy recipe years ago when she volunteered in my library.

You simply pack a jar with chive flowers (this is the perfect time of year for that), then pack the jar a little and add some good quality white wine vinegar. Store in a dark place for a few weeks and strain. Surprisingly, it doesn't come out tasting like chives or onions - but does have a unique almost flowery taste that is quite good on fish."

Thanks, Jody! I'm going to try it!

This great photograph (by Petite Progressions) of Tapestry in their highly-relaxed Renaissance mode was posted by one of the singers - Kathy Collett - on her Facebook page.

With it, she wrote: "Come to the Tapestry concert Saturday, June 11, 7:00 p.m. at St. James Church, 9 Williams Street, Clinton, N.Y. We will perform Handel's seldom-heard Funeral Anthem for Queen Caroline and "Byrd Song", a cheery selection of madrigals featuring birds or written by Byrd. Join us afterwards for a reception in the parish hall with homemade goodies by Tapestry members."

*****

I was fortunate enough to have spent ten or twelve years with Tapestry and in my collection of memories are two completely different "reviews" of their work:

Whereas WCNY's Bonnie Beth Derby wrote:

"Director Jay Swain and Tapestry raise a cappella choral performance to the highest art form........"

.......... a grinning college student, after a performance in Old Forge, burbled with gleeful enthusiasm:

"How wonderful to see so many old people having such a good time!"
(Apparently she had, too.)

Saturday evening's performance is in celebration of
Tapestry's twenty-five years
of having done both!

Another Celebration

On Friday, "At Home in the Huddle" will celebrate its Fifth Birthday.

I'm taking a very long weekend off, but - as always - I will be checking my Email as well as the "news" and will post any items that I think are of importance and/or interest to you.

Have a good weekend, everyone,

and keep cool!
