Sunday evening for Monday morning

(Click, please!)

***********************************

Monday is GARBAGE DAY!

At 5:00 p.m. on Sunday the temperature is 36 degrees!

150 years go!

WKTV's forecast: short and sweet!

"Warmer air moves on Monday with another opportunity for snow and maybe even some rain.
By the middle and end of the week a pattern change is expected and temperatures will likely make a run at 40 degrees."

What a wonderful sight that is!

TODAY IS VALENTINE'S DAY!

From Wikipedia; "The day is named after one or more early Christian martyrs, Saint Valentine, and was established by Pope Gelasius I in 496 AD. It was deleted from the Roman calendar of saints in 1969 by Pope Paul VI, but its religious observance is still permitted. It is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines"). The day first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.
Modern Valentine's Day symbols include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten valentines have given way to mass-produced greeting cards."

And there are FLAGS!!!

A SUNDAY RIDE IN THE COUNTRY!

West of Route 26.

At the corner of County Road 10 and Anderson Road, south of Augusta, an historic marker identifies this little cemetery as the resting place of

Amos Parker

1762 - 1842

"Tallest man in American Army; saved Gen. Lafayette's life.
Present at the surrender of Cornwallis."

***********

Can someone give me more information about Parker? I have a vague recolletion of being told that he was chosen to be one of Lafayette's "guards' because he was so tall that Lafayette could hide behind him! But that may not be true at all!

Next to the Oriskany - scores of robins, or - perhaps - even hundreds, hanging out on the banks of the creek! It's possible, of course, that they are the ones who have stayed here all Winter, but it would be nice if they're the first arrivals from the South!

At Lyon's Mills.

Mason Road.

Route 20.

For the Record

Have a fine Valentine's Day, everyone!
