53 degrees and dry at 6:30 a.m.
The WKTV weather forecast: "A disturbance today will bring us mild weather, clouds, and rain showers this afternoon. High temperatures climb into the lower 60s. Steady rain builds in this evening and early tonight as a cold front passes by. A thunderstorm is possible as well. Lows in the upper 40s.
Partly sunny and pleasant tomorrow, with highs in the upper 50s. The chance for light rain showers on Wednesday as a cold front passes through. Highs in the lower 50s.
A big cooldown is expected late in the week. At this point, the weather looks cold enough to generate lake effect snow showers and flurries on Thursday. Drier weather by Friday.
Another warm up is possible by next weekend."

But Oh! What a day it was on Friday!
But Oh! What a day it was on Friday!
"Snow Causes Havoc..." from the Observer-Dispatch
From WKTV: "Tractor Trailors Jackknife Due to White-out Road Conditions."
I had been out of town for lunch and came back to Waterville by way of Clinton - not because it was storming, then, but just because I felt like it.
There were a few flakes of snow in the air as I drove down Route 12B to Deansboro. Once on Route 315, however, I seemed to run headfirst into a "squall" of turkey-feather-sized wet snowflakes, falling so thickly and fast that the countryside disappeared and the pavement was covered with enough deep slush to convince me to slow the blog-car to about 20 mph and turn on my hazard lights for the first time this year.
I'd have liked to have taken a lot of pictures, of course, but prudence demanded that I keep both hands on the steering wheel until I'd reached my driveway.
The old willow tree had protected ground and chairs beneath it from much accumulation ......
...................... but the front of my house looked like a Christmas card!

Perhaps it was that snowstorm that put some people in the mood to decorate, or perhaps the balmy days that followed prompted them to hang outdoor Christmas lights early. At any rate, a couple of homes on Putnam Street and on West Bacon are all ready for December!

WCS is NOT on the
In the Observer-Dispatch. "Your Town: Waterville Blog Captures Village Life."
I was surprised! When O-D writer Carolyn Bostick first contacted me by Email, she wrote that she'd like to do a feature story about Waterville, and I, with the help of some blog-readers, began making a list of pertinent facts about Waterville's history, architecture, population, schools, and so forth and I put together a collection of photo files to send to her. However - when she actually reached me by telephone and I asked her what she would like, she had only one request: "Tell my about your blog!"
Thank you for that nice article, Carolyn, and Thank You, Jody, for your kind words!
