And to Pat Louise, who was highlighted in Frank Tomaino's "This Week in History" in the Sunday O-D:

"2001, 10 years ago: Waterville newspaper sold."

"Patricia Louise, who served in several editor positions at the Observer-Dispatch, is the new owner of the 145-year-old Waterville Times. Mary and Martin Cleary have owned and published the newspaper for 22 years."

HAPPENING TODAY

Garbage Collection.

It's 57.7 degrees and overcast at 6:15.

From WKTV: "Monday will start off with some partial sunshine. Clouds will build up during the afternoon with the chance for some pop up showers and thunderstorms. The chance of thunderstorms will continue into the evening. Any thunderstorms that do develop have the potential for heavy rain as well as gusty winds. It will be warm and humid with highs near 80 degrees.

A cold front moves in on Tuesday, setting off another round of thunderstorms. Unsetteled weather looks to continue for most of the week with highs in the mid 70s."

LOOKING AROUND

Dandelions are going to seed. (click!)

Oats are up - at least I think that's what they are - in the field next to Fuess-Cleary Road.

The "tubs," filled with pink and white petunias, are appearing along Main Street.

There's a super-bright display of tulips at Farm Credit, in Sangerfield.

Lilacs and "Flowering crabs" are all in bloom ..........

.......... and Solomon's Seal.

Jody Hildreth took a close-up photograph of one of those tiny bell-like blossoms .....

...... and this picture, showing the intricate, elaborate "architecture" of what we may think of as a "simple fern!"

(Thanks, Jody!)

Have a great day, everyone!

I think it's going to be a slow week.
Blog posts may be "slow," too.

FOR THE RECORD

Despite well-publicized predictions that "Judgment Day and the rapture (the taking up into heaven of God's elect people) would occur at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, the 21st,"
we're all still here!
